"Pioneer Boys" Story Synopsis
The story of Jim Clark, a 17 year old Pony Express rider experiencing first-hand the pain this country faced in the ramp up to the Civil War. His growth must stretch 2000 miles, from St. Joseph, Mo. to Sacramento, CA. Jim and his younger sister Susie find themselves tragically orphaned amid the Bloody Kansas turmoil. The kindness of Alexander Majors, founder of the Pony Express alongside the progressive wisdom of Ralph Waldo Emerson provide them with their sole means of support and guidance. They are forced to confront the reality of Sam, a young slave who they grew up with – is he friend, is he family or is he property?
